Teachers from five states spent this past Thursday at Berkner High School. They ironed, sewed and taped plastic bags together to concoct ponchos, boots and totes. Then they took turns presenting their creations to their peers.
Sometimes teachers go to class, too.
Richardson ISD partnered with Discovery Education for a symposium that showcased what practices educators can use to teach children about science, technology, engineering and math. The Berkner feeder pattern is where STEM For All, a partnership between Texas Instruments, Educate Texas and RISD, launched in 2018.
Robert Corbin, director of Discovery Education’s global STEM initiatives, led the activity, designed to put teachers in students’ shoes. See what happened here.
