In honor of National Donut Day this Friday, June 6, companies have started to announce upcoming doughnut deals and discounts.
In 1938, The Salvation Army established National Donut Day to honor the so-called “Donut Lassies” who served doughnuts to U.S. soldiers during World War I. The first Donut Day served as a Salvation Army fundraiser during the Great Depression. Today, the holiday lives on as both a fun tradition and a tribute to those who provided these treats to soldiers.

Lake Highlands Donuts

Need a good old-fashioned with some milk? Lake Highlands Donuts covers all the basics with its tried-and-true selection of cake, glazed and specialty doughnuts, in addition to an assortment of kolaches. It is recommended that customers arrive somewhat early, especially considering the holiday.
Dunkin’
6401 E. Northwest Highway
This year at Dunkin’, you can get a free classic doughnut with any beverage purchase on National Donut Day. The chain is also partnering with the brand Stoney Clover Lane to launch limited-edition merchandise, including doughnut bags and accessories, that will be available for online purchase starting at 9 a.m. the same day.
Morning Donuts

Morning Donuts isn’t afraid to get adventurous. Even though Hypnotic Donuts on Garland Road may have closed, neighbors can still get cronuts, indulgently decorated cake doughnuts and more at the local shop near the intersection of Royal Lane and Abrams Road.
7-Eleven
7-Eleven will sell glazed donuts for just $0.50 each to 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members at participating locations. The same donuts will be available for a still-discounted price of $1 (compared to the standard price of $1.69) until June 24.

Krispy Kreme
Lastly, Krispy Kreme customers can buy a dozen original glazed doughnuts for only $2 with purchase of any dozen at a regular price. They can also receive any individual doughnut of choice for free with no purchase necessary.
