Manny Anzaldua pulled into his parking spot at about 3 p.m. and exited his vehicle when two young men demanded his things, according to the Dallas Police Department. As a struggle ensued, one of the suspects shot the man with a handgun, police said.
Anzaldua was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 54-year-old worked as a manager for the apartment complex. His co-worker, Sami Bracks, created a Facebook fundraiser to cover the cost of his funeral, and the Northeast Patrol Division also hosted a barbecue fundraiser.
Police arrested Janelius Howard and Quinderrius Johnson and charged them with capital murder. Both Howard and Johnson are 17 years old.
