Choirs from Lake Highlands High, Forest Meadow and Lake Highlands Junior High will perform together Wednesday night for their annual Fall Concert in the LHHS auditorium. Each choir will perform songs they’ve been hard at work perfecting, and the show will close with the combined choirs’ version of “God Bless America,” a Lake Highlands tradition.
The event will also kick off fundraising for the John Stallings Memorial Scholarship fund. Stallings was an outstanding choir member, track athlete and LHHS scholar, and he died in a 1986 car accident while a student at Texas A&M University. The fund his parents established has paid more than $70,000 to LHHS graduates who demonstrate musical talent and leadership abilities. Each spring the LHHS Choir Booster Club awards several $1,000 scholarships to Wildcats who have dedicated their time and talents to the choir program. Donations may be made at the concert or online here.
The Oct. 10 concert begins at 7 p.m., but come early for Espree’s Coffeehouse and Dessert Bar from 6-7. A $5 donation gets you a warm drink and yummy dessert, plus packages of cookies and pies will be available to take home.
Admission to the concert is free.
