Advocate editor Elissa Chudwin on our Preston Hollow Advocate news site reported yesterday that Central Market will be opening a new store on Northwest Highway — Northwest Highway and Midway, that is, and not Northwest Highway and Ferndale, which is where Lake Highlands residents had hoped for a new H-E-B or Central Market.

The last Central Market to open in Dallas, in 2012, also is in Preston Hollow.

H-E-B/ Central Market last August purchased six Sun Fresh Market stores including the one in Lake Highlands and another nearby at Mockingbird Abrams, which also will not become a Central Market, as anticipated, but instead has been sold to a local real estate firm.

“We have since sold the Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road location to Lincoln Properties, and plans for the remaining three stores are still under evaluation; however, these will likely be sold or leased to other retail tenants,” Mabrie Jackson, director of public affairs at Central Market, announced yesterday.

We will do our best to keep you up to date on developments at the Northwest/Ferndale property.
