Updated: It looks like the H-E-B brand won’t make an appearance in our neighborhood after all, a spokesperson told CBS’s local station.
From the story: Company spokesperson Leslie Sweet called the North Texas enthusiasm for the brand ‘the ultimate honor…’. Sweet also clarified that the company would ‘love to be in Dallas… but, not right now.’
Instead, the company is focused on expanding its Central Market brand, already operating in the area. According to company officials, the possible expansion of the H-E-B branded stores into the area at some point would be a major undertaking and would happen only following considerable prior planning.
The huge independent grocery chain H-E-B/Central Market, as we’ve been speculating for some time, has moved into the Lake Highlands, East Dallas and Northwest Dallas area, taking over four Sun Fresh stores.
The Minyard Sun Fresh Market on Mockingbird-Abrams will shutter Sept. 1.
Store manager Dusty Longoria confirmed the rumor Monday, saying the staff was notified earlier in the day. That nearby location, the Lake Highlands store on Northwest Highway and five others in Dallas, now belong to San Antonio-based H-E-B.
H-E-B owns H-E-B Plus!, Mi Tienda and Joe V’s Smart Show. It remains unclear which brand will open at which location, but we will keep you posted.
