Local restaurant to donate 20 Thanksgiving dinners, now nominate a deserving family

Anyone who’s dined at JJ’s Cafe on Northwest Highway has seen owner Jose Ramirez flitting table to table, making each guest feel special, inspecting quality.

Since taking the restaurant over five years ago, Jose and his wife Josefina Orozco, who works tirelessly behind the scenes, have exhibited love for the Lake Highlands and East Dallas communities. (We love them back; Lake Highlands Advocate readers voted them best breakfast.) And they don’t just serve breakfast and lunch. Back in 2014 they announced dinner service as well.

They frequently host special holiday events, such as a Santa Brunch the second week of December, which we’ll fill you in on later. This Thanksgiving, as they did the last, they are reaching out to families who would appreciate a delicious JJ’s-created feast but cannot afford it.

Last year, based on nominations, they gave away five full Thanksgiving dinners. This year they are upping the bounty, offering 20. If you know of a deserving East Dallas/Lake Highlands family, Jose wants you to nominate them by emailing him at jose@jjscafe.net with a reason for the nomination plus contact information for that deserving family.
