Police on Monday discovered the dead body of 54-year-old Ricky Griffin in a Forest Lane apartment, Forest Cove, right across the street from Forest Lane Academy Elementary School in the Richardson ISD.
Police today charged 25-year-old Kieron Alexander with Griffin’s murder.
Alexander told police during an interrogation that he snapped and beat Griffin after, he says, Griffin made unwanted sexual advances toward Alexander.
An unnamed female who lives in the apartment — which, according to the arrest warrant is frequently used as a place “to consume illegal narcotics” — told police the two men were alone in the apartment when she left earlier on Monday. When she returned that evening, a little before 6 p.m., Griffin was dead next to a small smoldering fire, she told investigators.
According to the warrant, Alexander approached the apartment yesterday evening while investigators were still inside, and Alexander returned with detectives to Dallas Police Headquarters for questioning. In addition to admitting to beating Griffin with his hands and feet (no weapons involved, according to the report), Alexander admitted to “attempting to burn” Griffin.
Alexander is being held on $500,000 bond.
