On the business front, J.C. Penney, which has a Lake Highlands-vacinity location at Timbercreek Shopping Center (Skillman-Northwest), has a CEO-designee, Marvin Ellison, who aims to “bring the company back to market dominance,” according to the Dallas Business Journal. Ellison announced he will launch store improvements, which will include expanding the shoe department.
The trial of Brian Cloninger continued and a verdict is expected soon, according to Dallas Morning News’ Danielle Grobmeier. Cloninger stands accused of shooting young Donald Maiden Jr. at the La Bella Palms apartment complex last September. In testimony this week a prostitute said Cloninger was at her apartment that day; she asked him to leave, she said, because he was drunk and belligerent.
