The participants have photographed their neighborhood, which is one of Dallas’ most crime affected, and have prepared presentations complete with possible solutions. They will showcase their work Thursday from 1:30-3 p.m. at Tasby Middle School, 7001 Fair Oaks.

Photovoice, according to its organizers, combines photography with grassroots social action. It teaches students how to advocate for their communities.

In the past, students participating in Photovoice have seen public improvements as a result of their work — parks cleaned, dangerous dumpsters moved and street safety improved.
