“MetroPCS Dallas Marathon race organizers announced today that they have partnered with Back on My Feet to donate thousands of food items to Dallas Life and Our Calling, two North Texas-based organizations supporting the homeless population,” a news release reads.

The Dec. marathon was canceled due to severe weather conditions.

“Despite the cancelation of our race and the inability to use the food as planned for our runners, we are grateful that the unused food will go to a great cause, serving the local community through our partnership with Back on My Feet,” says Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon.

A while back we published a story and video about the Back On My Feet group. See that here.

Says Gina Parker, executive director for BOMF Dallas/Fort Worth, “we are so appreciative of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon for this act of kindness. We are happy to partner with the Dallas Marathon each year to support the race, and are pleased that, even in the race’s cancellation, (our) runners will directly benefit from this donation.”
