White Rock Elementary will see six new classrooms and a gym expansion.

Wallace will receive six new classrooms, a cafeteria expansion and gym expansion.

Merriman Park will not receive a gym or cafeteria expansion but will receive six new classrooms.

Same with Dover.

A parent during Monday’s meeting raised questions about adding teachers/ personnel to accommodate extra students. Superintendent Kay Waggoner, reinforced last week’s promise: “We realize that when we add students, we need to add resources. We commit to provide the resources — counselors, specialists, educators and accommodations for students with special needs…”

The board immediately will begin taking bids from contractors, architects, designers for the four projects in question, Waggoner said last week.

The cost of the construction could range from $1.8-$2.5 million and would not utilize bond funds but rather money from a capital projects fund.
