People from the Lake Highlands neighborhood (and from Wylie and Gun Barrel City too) have rallied around Freeman, secured donations from local businesses, and helped him rebuild his home.
They learned about the man after a news piece showed him attempting to fix the destroyed home himself. LHHS grad Wendy Werther Haynes led the charge to help him out.
Haynes and her slew of volunteers and contributors, and Freeman himself, have been working tirelessly for months on end every weekend at the Freeman home, and this past weekend, Freeman and his new friends celebrated the completion of new siding on the house.
Haynes notes that it is yet to be painted.
