bermudaEver since I first encountered the mysterious intersection of Skillman-LBJ, I have called it the Bermuda Triangle because I could never get out of it going in the same direction I entered. Searching for an address in the area is even worse. And then, even when you know where you’re going, try navigating the traffic.

Relief may be coming soon. According to the Dallas Morning News, city transportation planners and council members are looking at implementing changes to the confusing road layout. According to the News, $11 million is set aside for the project, from Dallas city bond programs and county capital improvement funds. Additional funding will be needed, but planners are beginning the initiative with a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 17.

Locals have long held high hopes that the area, which is adjacent to DART’s LBJ-Skillman station, can be revitalized with improved access to retail once the roads and traffic difficulties are improved.

The public info and input meeting will be held Thursday, January 17, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lane Academy, 9663 Forest Lane. From Lake Highlands, you can get there by heading north on Audelia Road, but, well– you know, it could get complicated when you cross Skillman. So build in extra time.
