Healing Hands Ministries is having a birthday, and they’re inviting all of Lake Highlands to join in the celebration. After all, says Janna Gardner, the former school nurse who founded the charity medical and dental clinic now serving thousands of children and families here in LH, “we could never have gotten where we are without the love and support of this generous community.”
After five years, Healing Hands has outgrown their small clinic on Skillman near Walnut Hill and has new digs being renovated near Greenville Avenue and Royal Lane. The Birthday Party, to be held this Friday, January 11th, will be a celebration of that milestone and a kickoff to the capital campaign needed to complete construction of the new facility. The doors are expected to open to patients in April.
Friday night’s Birthday Party will begin at 6:30pm in the Great Hall at Park Cities Baptist Church, Northwest Highway near Preston Road. There’ll be plenty of schmoozing and chit-chatting before the meal is served at 7 o’clock, including some appreciation for all the doctors, nurses and other volunteers who have given their time to improve the life and health of patients living in our neighborhood. After a delicious meal catered by City Café, we’ll hear from Keron Jackson, an internationally known inspirational speaker whose life sounds much like that of Michael Oher from the movie The Blind Side – and many Healing Hands patients. Dealt extremely difficult cards to begin with, Keron overcame great odds with determination, the help of others and the grace of God. You’ll be amazed at what Keron has been able to do with the gifts he’s been given.
