It’s mile two when you see it: round, glazed and glowing with a frosted sheen. In your vision, it might be sprinkle-covered or bacon-flavored. Maybe it’s topped in peanut butter, Nutella, fresh fruit or jalepeños. Whatever your preferred donut, it just might be what helps you make it through the race.
Sound familiar? At Hypnotic Donuts’ delicious Donut Dash 5k, you can work off the calories as you consume them. Three donut hole stops along the course will hopefully provide motivation to train for the run and keep going on race day. Of course, you don’t have to eat any donuts if you don’t like them or you want to focus more on the “dash” part of the race.
Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under now through Jan. 25. The tasty event takes place Jan. 26 at the Embarcadero Building in Fair Park. Race-day registration is $35.
Runners can expect three donut hole stopping stations along the course, a “chubby bunny” contest, free food, live bands, prizes, free beer and donut mug awards. Show up at 7:30 for a pre-race stretch before the dashing begins at 8 a.m. The race course stays in Fair Park.
