The news reports call it Northeast Dallas, but two violent crimes happened in Lake Highlands this week — a violent sexual attack and an apparent drive-by shooting — occurred only about a mile from my neighborhood, Woodbridge.
Police are still searching for a man who broke into an apartment home on Audelia at the Timberlodge and sexually attacked a 47-year-old woman, then fled. Due to darkness, the woman was unable to provide a description.
Last night, Thursday, at the nearby Ridgegate Apartments on Forest Lane, next to Forest Lane Academy Elementary School, a man shot another man in the back, according to a police report.
Police were dispatched at about 8:30 p.m. They found a man on the ground with a gunshot to his lower back. I passed the complex at about 9 p.m. and four or five police cars were there and a helicopter was searching the area.
The victim was alive and told police he didn’t know who shot him or why, but witnesses reported a black male 15-18 years old wearing a white muscle shirt and red shorts. He possibly drove off in a tan Mercury.
We will report back when/if we have more info.
