As neighborhood resident Delores Leask watched the 9/11 news coverage unfold as it happened 10 years ago Sunday, she wrote a poem with her thoughts after the second World Trade Center tower tumble to the ground. Leask sent the poem to me a few weeks ago, and I thought it was worth reprinting here today.
Who Am I?
I am the faces of all who perished in the terrorist attacks.
I am the tears and heartbreak of the survivors, families and rescue workers.
I am the strength and courage of all Americans.
I am confusion and fear but with strong determination to overcome.
I am the red, white and blue of our flag.
I am an American!
