No one will be allowed to camp out overnight in NorthPark Center to be one of the first in line to enter the new H&M store when it opens Thursday. Chick-fil-A, Whataburger and other companies may encourage groupies to don pajamas and party all night, but NorthPark, one of the premier shopping centers in the nation, isn’t interested in tents lining its hallways.

H&M opens at noon on Thursday, Aug. 18, and will give gift certificates ranging from $10-$500 to the first 500 customers in line, plus opening day in-store giveaways. One customer will receive a personal style consultation, and will be able to enter the store before anyone else.

Most NorthPark stores open at 10 a.m. But if you’re a frequent NorthPark visitor, you know that the center opens a bit earlier each morning for people wanting to eat breakfast at one of the restaurants or to walk for exercise in blessed air-conditioning instead of sweltering heat. So 6 a.m. on Thursday will be the earliest anyone can get in line.

If you’re not interested in braving the crowds but still interested in H&M’s Dallas grand opening and the surrounding hoopla, we’ll be live tweeting Thursday morning: Follow us at twitter.com/Advocate_LH.
