Lake Highlands High coach Kelly Baker wanted to see a new spark from the Lady Wildcats this season, and she got just that as the team finished (20-1, 11-1) with a District 9-5A title to boot.
“It has been awesome this season. They have played great,” Baker said. “The girls have played like a team this year. Everyone has had to do their part all year. We have become disciplined hitters this year, which has paid off. Everyone has stepped up to the challenge each day and just keep getting better. I love coaching these girls and can’t wait to see what happens for playoffs.”
More than likely, the Lady Wildcats will play against Sachse, who is fourth in District 10-5A, in the first round of the playoffs, but they still have games remaining on their schedule. We’ll get the latest news to you on the playoff schedule when it comes out.
And as for added incentive, Baker told her players that if they move into the second round, she’ll dye her hair a fun color. Which one you ask?
“If they move to the second round of playoffs, I will color my hair pink. So that should be big enough motivation for them,” Baker said.
I’m sure Baker’s elementary school students are hoping to see their teacher with pink hair.
