The family of Andrew Conwell is celebrating this morning after being on hand to see Andrew receive the highly prestigious “M” Award from Southern Methodist University last night.
Andrew has served as President of SMU’s Student Foundation this year, and he had the opportunity to participate in the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Bush Presidential Center. Andrew presented Condoleeza Rice with the ceremonial shovel she used to turn the first layer of dirt, and he welcomed other high-profile VIPs at the event. Andrew also chaired Family Weekend and was the student rep on the SMU Board of Trustees, among many other leadership positions over four years of study and achievement. Andrew graduated from LHHS in 2007.
SMU describes its “M” Award as “the most highly coveted recognition bestowed upon students, faculty, staff and administrators,” and praises honorees as “an inspiration to others, giving unselfishly of their time and talents in order to make the University, and indeed the world, a better place for all of us to live.”
Lake Highlands claims another recent recipient, 2009 “M” Award winner Sam Douglas. Congratulations, Andrew!
