During last fall’s wet-dry election, we were told repeatedly — and especially by mayoral candidate and Far North Dallas councilman Ron Natinsky — that as soon as we voted to allow retail wine and beer sales, Costco would open a store in Dallas.
So what has happened? Costco, the warehouse chain seen as the gentler, kinder version of Walmart, has broken ground on a new store. In Frisco, of course — a location that anyone who knows anything about the retail business knows that Costco prefers over Dallas 99 times out of 100. Not to belabor the point, but politicians tell us what they want us to believe, and not necessarily what’s true.
