A: Going to seventh period football where we run and lift weights, then heading over to the track right after football and running the track workout. When that is over I usually work on either the long jump or triple jump.

Q: How do you manage golf and track overlapping?

A: Surprisingly, it wasn’t that hard to manage golf and track at the same time. I still go to seventh period football every day and on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday I go to track, and Tuesday and Friday — if I don’t have  a track meet — I go to golf. On days where we had a golf tournament, I was still able to make it back to school in time to go to football and track. On some days I would play 18 holes, run sprint drills and lift weights at football, then run a full track workout. Yes, that is as difficult as it sounds.

Q: Why did you start doing both the jumping events and the running?

A: I have done the sprints and jumps ever since I started track in the eighth grade. Back then they didn’t have the triple jump so I did high jump. I switched over to triple jump my sophomore year. The jumps are fun for me and they also help me get warmed up for the running events.

Q: What else are you involved in at Lake Highlands?

A: I’m a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and student council. Next year I will be the student council treasurer. I’m also in the ping pong club.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of school and sports?

A: Hang out with my friends is a big one. I played a lot of tennis this summer with some of my friends on the tennis team. I wish I had enough time to play for the school but it wouldn’t be possible. I love to play video games, watch TV and play on the computer, and occasionally read a book or magazine.

Q: Who do you see as a role model?

A: To me, my biggest role models are my teammates. I would go to any one of them for advice on or off the field. I typically would look up to guys older than me like Ricky Zorn and Mitchell Hodge. I’m the older guy now, so I’m stepping up to try and  a role model for the younger guys.
