Cancer Support Community North Texas (CSCNT) is a nonprofit cancer support group with clubhouses in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin County. Unexpectedly, the one of the organization’s biggest backers, Texas Health Resources (THR), announced that they will no longer be funding CSCNT as of Jan. 1, 2025.
“We acknowledge and are grateful for THR’s generous support in helping us meet the
critical cancer support needs of patients in our community, unfortunately the speed and magnitude of the funding cuts have put us in a very difficult position,” CSCNT Board Chair Dave Ashworth said.
Between the three clubhouses, CSCNT saw more than 6,400 in-person and virtual visits from cancer patients and their families in 2023. In light of the news, the organization will be closing their Tarrant and Collin County locations, leaving only the Dallas County clubhouse in Lake Highlands.
CEO Mirchelle Louis says that CSCNT will be searching for a new Dallas County location in 2025 to further reduce costs.
Despite the unfortunate news, CSCNT’s annual fundraiser, the Red Tie Gala, is still set to be held Saturday, November 2 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Preston Hollow.
“This year’s gala will be more important than ever,” Louis said. “The show will go on.”
