Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to district leader Richardson has left the Lake Highlands baseball team on the outside looking in on the 9-5A playoff race.

LH is now 6-5 in district play with three games left against W.T. White, Creekview and Molina.

Richardson is in first at 9-2 followed by Berkner at 9-3 and Creekview at 8-4. If the season ended today, those four would make the playoffs while LH would finish fifth.

The Richardson loss was another struggle that found LH coming up just short against a quality team. The Wildcats managed six hits, including a double by Blake Woodson. Ryan Browder took the loss.

LH has to make up a postponed game at W.T. White and has scheduled games Friday at home against Creekview and Saturday at Molina. Creekview, the team LH is chasing for fourth, is also scheduled to play Richardson. LH has a win over Creekview from the first round of district play, which could come in handy if a tiebreaker is needed to decide the fourth and final playoff spot.

Barring further postponements, the Wildcats’ playoff fate will be decided this weekend.
