If the boys basketball playoffs started today, LH would be left out of the mix. The Wildcats have two games left to change that.
The top of the district’s standings (with the team’s record in district play) look like this…
Berkner 11-1
Creekview  9-3
Skyline 8-4
Richardson 8-4
Lake Highlands 7-5
With two games left on each team’s schedule, it looks as if Richardson has the toughest road to the playoffs, playing Berkner at home and Creekview on the road.
Lake Highlands finishes with Creekview at home Friday, then against Molina on Tuesday at Ellis Davis Field House.
Skyline should win its remaining games, at WT White and home against Sunset, which would guarantee the team a spot in the postseason.
Creekview is not a total lock for the playoffs, with tough games against LH and Richardson, but the Mustangs have the most direct path to get there. If they can win one more game, they are in.
Despite the confusion, the Wildcats’ mission is clear.
“The playoff possibilities of who gets in and who doesn’t is very confusing,” senior guard Demarcus Bernard said. “But, none of it matters if we don’t get a win against Creekview.”
