The Senior Class at Lake Highlands High School jumped into action quickly this month, hearing of a need for snuggly warm blankets for children who are patients at Parkland Hospital. Their old friend Ramona Powers, former senior principal at LHHS and now an assistant principal at LHFC, told them of the need and encouraged them to respond quickly to bring holiday cheer and warmth to students receiving care.
About 100 blankets were collected at the annual Senior Toga Party hosted by the men of the senior class. Before students entered to dance, play pool and watch college football on the big screen, they stacked up the Snuggies and blankets under the tree. “I’m proud of my seniors,” said senior principal Michelle King. “Their focus this year is service to others – they want to make a difference.”
