Things got a little hectic late in last night’s game when Lake Highlands drove 89 yards (90 counting lost yardage) to beat Garland, 7-6.
I went back over my chicken scratchings/notes and the blog archive and put together a play-by-play of the game-winning drive. There’s not a lot of color and detail, but you will notice the consistent execution by LH as it efficiently gained ground toward the goal.
LH was almost too efficient, as it turns out, because Garland had 1:02 left to mount its own comeback, which ultimately fell short.
Click on the link below for the blow-by-blow account of LH’s winning drive.
The setup: Garland has just taken a 6-0 lead with a 34-yard field goal. The LH return man dropped the kickoff, but recovered it only to slip on the turf at the LH 11. The Wildcats have 4:40 left on the clock and all three of their timeouts.
