Flavor Asian Fusion restaurant, recently closed its 9220 Skillman location for many different reasons including inconsistent business, owner Piyada Huatcharoen says, but the main reason for closing “was the unsafe location that scared off customers." Flavor will re-open in Deep Ellum on Commerce Street in about four months, she says. Customers with gift certificates should hang on to them and she will honor them at the new location. She says she appreciates the faithful Flavor crowd and hopes they will all make the short trek to Deep Ellum when the place re-opens.
Tex Mex Grill opened yesterday at the northwest corner of Walnut Hill and Plano — you might have seen the guy with a sign standing outside. My husband ate there yesterday (warning: he’s in the restaurant business so he’s pretty critical). He had good things to say about the ambiance and décor, but he says he was disappointed in the guacamole, which seemed like the packaged stuff. He had fajitas, which were “OK”, but his weren’t on a sizzle plate, though he saw other customers with fajitas on a sizzle plate. I still want to try the place out myself, because the husband and I don’t always agree on these sorts of things. If you ate there and had a different experience, please let us know.
