In addition to being the Wildcat mascot at Lake Highlands High School and a Wrangler on the country & western dance team, Stephanie Tomba is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She will gather her black belt friends to teach a self defense class for moms and daughters Tuesday, April 21 at Sokol Athletic Center. “It’s important for girls to learn some safety techniques, especially if they’ll be heading off to college soon,” says Stephanie.
The class will last about an hour and a half, and they’ll be able to practice the moves and strategies they’re taught. Moms are welcome without daughters and vice versa. The fee is $10 per person, with proceeds going to Genesis Women’s Shelter. Attendees should register with Stephanie’s mom, Vela, since class size is limited.
