Alfonso knows more about Italian wine than almost anyone — and that’s no mean feat, given how difficult Italian wine is. The Italians use hundreds of grapes to make wine, most of which no one else has ever heard of. To quote one of my favorite wine experts, an Englishman named Tom Cannavan: "I still have an enormous amount to learn about wine in general, and Italy is one of the areas that presents me with a welcome challenge."

So it should come as no surprise that Alfonso’s wine blog, On the Wine Trail in Italy, has been nominated for two American Wine Blog awards: best writing and best graphics. To vote for Alfonso, go here.
