Theresa O’Donnell, the city’s director of development, will be speaking at Monday’s meeting of the Lake Highlands Area Improvement Association (7 p.m. at the Freshmen Center). She’s the main speaker because of the growing number of zoning issues affecting our neighborhood; I’ve heard her speak, and she’s a sharp, thoughtful city planning/zoning expert whose opinions have a significant imact on city development plans

The LHAIA also is sponsoring a forum on the Church/Skillman proposed rezoning issue Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at Lake Highlands North Rec Center, 9940 White Rock Trail, according to Robin Norcross.

Representatives from the Merriman Park North and Highlands West neighborhoods will be there, along with developer Jonathan Pearlman and a City planning office rep. LHAIA president Steve Wakefield will moderate. The format is 20 minutes for presentations by each side and then audience questions/answers submitted to and read by Wakefield.

Merriman Park North’s neighborhood association has some good information about the development; visit this link to learn more about their perspective. Contact Steven Clary at Steven_Clary@sbcglobal.net with questions about the LHAIA forum concerning Church/Skillman.
