The RISD-affiliated RISE Foundation must raise $50,000 before Nov. 30 in order to quality for a $50,000 challenge grant.

The non-profit group, whose initials stand for Recognizing Innovations for Student Education, was formed in 1983. It raises money for research and innovation in the RISD. Among its projects are its Outstanding Teacher program, its Invention Convention and the North Dallas Regional Elementary Science Fair.

The $50,000 grant was donated anonymously on the condition that RISE raise $50,000 in matching funds. The group’s board of directors will launch a major fundraising campaign, and is asking the Lake Highlands community to participate. It does not receive any money from the school district.

Morris to Address Forest Meadow Parents

Abstinence is the answer to today’s problems of teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, says Marilyn Morris, and that’s what she will tell Forest Meadow Junior High parents at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the school.

Morris is affiliated with Aim for Success, a non-profit organization which says it is designed to challenge society to return to the concept of building self-control, self-respect and self-discipline.
