A rolling door will lead to outdoor patio seating at the new Shady’s

The new Shady’s Burger Joint hasn’t announced their official opening date in July, but they’re putting out word that they are seeking Lake Highlands High School students to interview for jobs at the new restaurant – a great sign that juicy burgers will be sizzling soon.

Shady’s is taking over the T.Hee’s spot at Walnut Hill and Audelia.

“We utilize a lot of high school students at our Richardson store,” says General Manager Cole Lapwing, “and it has been great for us and them. The positions that are good for them would be cashier, expo, food runners and bussers.”

Servers need to be 18 years old, he says, so Wildcat seniors would be best for those positions. Experienced cooks are also being sought.

Applicants may go online here to apply. Interviewing will begin immediately.

The Richardson Shady’s, open since 2013, is most popular for its burgers (I prefer the El Shady, with fried egg and grilled jalapenos), but they also have chicken tenders, fish tacos and lots of great salads on their menu. (The Popeye’s Stash spinach salad features candied walnuts and fresh strawberries. You can see a full menu here.) That store is known for hiring and attracting students from nearby Pearce High School and UTD. The LH Shady’s is expected to attract a distinctly family crowd and feature Wildcat décor and big screen TVs. A rolling door will lead to outdoor patio seating.

Welcome (soon) to LH, Shady’s!
