crimeDallas Police are investigating a fatal drive-by shooting that took place last night on the 9700 block of Forest near Audelia. The victim, 15-year-old Christopher Gordon, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

According to police, multiple shots were fired from a vehicle on Forest Lane into a group of juveniles congregated outside a shopping center between 10:30 p.m. and midnight. Witnesses stated that the suspect vehicle fired in the direction of the teenagers and drove away. No description of the suspect or suspect vehicle has been given.

Gordon was transported to Baylor Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. NBC 5 reports that Gordon was a freshman football player at Berkner High School. (Editors note: He also was a former Forest Meadow Junior High student.)

Dallas Police spokesperson Sherri Jeffrey says that homicide detectives are handling the investigation, and it has yet to be determined whether this was a gang-related incident.

This marks the second deadly shooting involving a teenager in Dallas in less than two weeks. A 16-year-old Woodrow Wilson High School student, Eric Romero, died on July 15 of a gunshot wound after being anonymously dropped off at Baylor Medical Center. Police believe the shooting took place before 10:30 p.m., possibly near Woodrow. An investigation is ongoing.
