Kent-PerkinsJust as 90’s-era Lake Highlands grads were well-represented at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, so they will be again during this year’s Dallas Film Festival. The dark comedy, “The Mend,” written and directed by Lake Highlands grad John Magary will be featured during the fest. Blake DeLong, who graduated from the high school in 1998, stars in “Thank You A Lot,” another feature film in the festival lineup. Speaking of Lake Highlands High School, former graduate Kent Perkins, (who signed to play football for the University of Texas on national signing day in 2013,) underwent successful knee surgery last week and will miss the rest of this year’s spring practice due to injury, reports SportsDay. The UT sophomore is expected to compete for the starting left or right tackle job next season.

Dallas-based Buckner International is building a new senior living community just south of NorthPark Center, reports Dallas Business Journal. Slated to open in 2018, the project will consist of two 12-story towers with 314 residential units.Â
