It all is in the latest Images of America series book by former Dallas parks historian Sally Rodriguez, White Rock Lake Revisited. The book features more than 200 pictures. It begins when White Rock Creek wound through the area sans the lake. This farm was near what is now the White Rock Hills area.

It features some of the first families to live in the area, such as the Goforths and the Churches. Church owned what is now Flag Pole Hill. Church is now the name of the street on which Lake Highlands High School sits.

And then it gets really fun as we return to a time when people didn’t just encircle the lake or paddle around on motorless boats, but actually swam in the water and, while wearing high-waisted and belted swimwear, water skied on garage doors …
