This Kroger sign leading to the express checkout lane seems kind of vague.

Maybe I just don’t go grocery shopping enough, but this huge sign leading into Kroger’s “express shopping lanes” seems like a departure from the norm (actual number of items spelled out) and something that could lead to, shall we say, some spirited discussions while idling in line.

Instead of “10 Item Limit” or something extremely specific, which is what I see in most stores, this Kroger sign says “About 15 Items”, leaving us to define for ourselves and our neighbors the word “about”.

I have spent enough time in lines behind people with “about 30 items” in their cart who seem unable to count higher than 10 that maybe this just legally protects Kroger from too-much-time-on-their-hands attorneys looking for a quick class-action score.

The sign does seem enticingly vague, though, for those among us who don’t feel that rules apply to them.
