Channel 21 is covering a 3-alarm apartment fire at The Sun Colony Apartments Royal Lane and Audelia in Lake Highlands. No links to the story yet, but from what I understand Dallas firefighters are still battling the blaze at 7:00 p.m. Monday. The fire is burning eight apartment homes. All of the families escaped safely but one firefighter suffered non life threatening injuries when he fell through the attic. Traffic is reportedly pretty bad surrounding the area and arson investigators are on the scene, which is standard policy. Red Cross representatives are also on the scene and promise to help those Lake Highlands neighbors affected by the fire find shelter for the night.
UPDATE: Apparently the fire began following an explosion a little after 5 p.m. Some of the witnesses interviewed said the electricity was out at the apartments earlier in the day and speculated that the power outage might be related to the explosion/ fire. Here‘s a link.
