The Pocket Sandwich Theatre presents a September full of fun and frivolity with two comedy acts. “The Naked Truth…In Leather” with stand-up comic Leann Barry premieres a new show on Sept. 6. Seating, food and beverage begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $9 and the show is rated “R.” The Village Idiots, Dallas’ all-improvisational comedy troupe, presents “Comedy For Adults” beginning Sept. 15 and running through October 7. DOT’S Annual Gala is set for Saturday, September 9. The group, which offers aid to the terminally ill, is honored to present an evening with Dionne Warwick. This top-drawer event will be held at the Santa Fe Hotel, Central Expressway and Mockingbird. For information call 214-826-4099.

LHHS graduate Chip Hodges was recently selected as the 2000 Regional Coca-Cola Scholar. He is pictured with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hodges. Chip will attend Baylor University in the Fall.

 

 

 

Future Spielbergs Evan Holtzman, Thomas Bailey, Blake Rodgers, and Garen Collett from Lake Highlands Junior High entered a statewide competition with the Texas Computer Education Association this spring. They were invited to a Grand Gala Awards Ceremony in Austin. Evan, Thomas and Blake took First Place for a Clamation Short Film in the multimedia division. All four boys also won First Place for a T-shirt screen layout in the Desktop Publishing Division. 

 

 

 

Songs Of Summer. Local LHHS sophomore, Jennifer Crane, 15, was chosen to sing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” at a Texas Ranger Baseball Game this past summer. Her mother Billie Colcott is a 35-year resident of Lake Highlands and a 1974 LHHS graduate.

 

 

 

Hoopsters. Wildcats from the LH area won the 12-years and under division at Hoop It Up on this past summer. The Wildcats competed against other teams and won all five games Players are: Nathan Forbes, Clint Roberts, Andrew Smith and Travis Wylie. The boys will be entering the 7th grade in the Fall.

 

 

 

Lakehill Prep School has announced its 2000-2001 student ambassadors. In the ninth grade: Hiram Hollomon, Hannah Morrison, Lance Hipps and Nicole Fanous. In the 10th grade: Chase Perry, Chase Marshall, Leslie Pinson, Anna Saltzman, John Hulse and Elissa Stafford. In the 11th grade: Liz Fenton, John Monteith, Hudson Marshall, Margaret Dillon and Chris Bills. In the 12th grade, Mark Rummel, Karman Weaver, Rachael Parish and Tust Tecasith.

 

 

 

Lakehill student Kim Westlund’s essay about her relationship with her younger sister has been chosen by Linda Daugherty, resident playwright of the Dallas Children’s Theater, to appear in the playbill of her current production, Bless Cricket, Crest Toothpaste and Tommy Tune.

Mayor Pro tem Mary Poss was recently elected president of the North Central Texas Council of Governments NCTCOG is an association assisting member in planning for common needs and benefit of North Central Texas.

 

 

 

Recognized For Excellence. At the National Exchange Club Annual Convention The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands received a number of awards for the past year, including the Superior Club Membership Achievement Award, The Club Excellence Award, and the National Service Award. Club President Mike Pappas received the Distinguished Club President Award; Club member Ray Hill was elected a Vice President and National Trustee of the Exchange Club Foundation; Ward Beaudry received a Distinguished District Director Award; and John Irvin received a Club Building Chairman Award and Voluntary Field Representative Award.
