Let the Music Take You: The Espirit singing group from Lake Highlands High School will be staging “When the Music Takes You” on Feb. 26 and 27, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for advance sales (available from the LHHS Choir Department) and $7 at the door. For more information, call 214-503-4667.

White Rock Newcomers Club: There will be a meeting on Feb. 2 at the Holiday Inn, LBJ and Jupiter. Hospitality time is 9:30-10 a.m., the luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. (cost–$14) and will be followed by bridge and games. The Club meets the first Tuesday of every month. JUST FOR KIDS

Enchanted Forest Calendar: On Feb. 6, the children’s’ bookstore at 6333 East Mockingbird will host a Valentine card making class from 3-4:15 p.m. for children ages five to eight. Cost is $10 and pre-registration is required. On Feb. 9 and 23, BYOB (Bring Your Own Baby) programs return. The 45-minute session with you and your baby (0-18 months) will include finger rhymes, songs and stories. Cost is $2 and pre-registration is requested. On Feb. 16, Brian Jacques, author of the “Redwall” adventure series will sign copies of his work from 10:45 a.m. until noon. On Feb. 20, your child can meet the precocious pig from Laura Numerof’s “If You Give A Pig a Pancake.” The reading and puppet show will last about four minutes at 11 and 11:30 p.m., and noon. Goodbye to Casa Linda Theater: A neighborhood landmark since the 1940s, Casa Linda’s theater closed its doors on Jan. 10 to make way for additional retail space at the center. Many dropped by to say farewell to the theater built by the McLendon family and reported to be John Wayne’s Dallas favorite.

Executive Reports: Lake Highlands resident Steve Caron has joined Means Kraus, LLC as vice president of Operations. Mean Kraus is a Texas-based firm that specializes in complex real estate projects.

Defensive Driving: The AARP will conduct an eight-hour course of “55 Alive Defensive Driving” on Feb. 26 and 27, 8:30 a.m. in the B Building Chapel at C.C. Young, 4829 Lawther Drive. To make reservations or for more information—call 214-827-8080, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $8.

For the Hard of Hearing: A new support group for hard-of-hearing adults will begin meeting on Feb. 25, 2:30 p.m., in the B Building Chapel at C.C. Young, 4829 Lawther Drive.
