Kelci Phipps is a Honey Grove High junior living with cerebral palsy, and she decided to ask Jaxson McGuire, a friend from nearby Cooper, to her prom. Kelsi is confined to a wheelchair, reported Meredith, but that doesn’t stop her from playing buddy baseball, Special Olympics basketball or dancing.

Jaxson got wind of Kelci’s plans, so he concocted a plan of his own. He set up in a friend’s yard and waited for her with sign in hand – a surprise invitation to the prom.

“The look on her face, let me tell you,” Jaxson told Meredith. “Oh my goodness.”

You can also watch the anchors, clearly touched after watching Meredith’s story, toss it over to the sports reporter, LHHS 2016 grad Mary Margaret Johnson. MMJ gives her old friend a shout-out here before jumping into local sports.
