Q: How was starting your freshmen year on varsity?
A: Swimming for a high school team was a big change for me; I was really nervous but also very excited at the same time. When I found out I would be on the varsity team I felt very honored since I was only a freshman. And when Coach let me be on the A relays I was extremely thrilled and also a little intimidated, but I tried my best and hoped I would be a good addition to the team. Everyone was very nice and welcoming; we were all one big happy family.

Q: How long have you been swimming?
A: I have been swimming all my life. I joined a little summer league swim team when I was about eight years old and I loved it, which is how my passion for swimming started. After a few years of just swimming on a summer team, I decided I wanted to continue with this sport more, so I joined a year-round club team and really got into swimming.  I have continued swimming ever since, and I still thoroughly enjoy it even though it’s tough sometimes, especially the part about waking up at 5:30 in the morning to work out.  But swimming is such a great sport that encourages people to work hard while having fun and making great friends.

Q: What are your plans for college?
A: I haven’t decided where I’m going to college yet. I would really love to go to Texas A&M and be an Aggie, but I’m also thinking about going to a small school called The University of Texas of the Permian Basin since I would like to continue swimming and could be on their team. As for deciding on my major… well, I’m really not sure what I want to study yet, maybe something along the lines of communications, something in the English field, or kinesiology.

Q : What kind of music do you like listening to?
P : Well, if you have ever met me, you probably learned who my favorite band is in the first few minutes of talking to me. Everyone knows I’m totally obsessed with this little band called Green Day, you have probably heard of them. They are by far my favorite, but I also enjoy other bands and other types of music as well. Mainly I enjoy listening to punk rock bands or alternative music along with many other types of musical genres.

Q :  What is your favorite food?
A : I’m a swimmer, swimmers eat a lot. I love all kinds of food, but one of my favorite things to eat is sushi, all kinds of sushi. My favorite restaurant ever is this sushi place in Mockingbird Station called Reikyu’s, it’s the best sushi place there is. You should try it sometime.

Q: What other activities are you involved in at school?
A: Aside from swimming, I’m a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Girls Service League, and Latin Club. It’s hard to be in too many other activities since swimming takes up so much time.
