The Dallas Police Department’s Northeast Division recently wrapped up its Health and Safety Fair, and officer Bervin Smith already is planning another event. The division teamed up with the Lake Highlands PID for Hope for the Holidays, a festival at the Forest Audelia Village Shopping Center. They need toys, gift cards and money for the event. Items can be donated to the Lake Highlands PID offices at 8676 Skillman St. and the Northeast Division at 9915 E. Northwest Highway.

Treat your little ones to a very special presentation of “A Ghost Tale for Mr. Dickens” at Dallas Children’s Theater on Friday, Nov. 30. The author of the Magic Tree House series, Mary Pope Osborne, will be answering questions. Tickets including a copy of Osborne’s last two books.

Zellweger Spectrum Disorder is a rare genetic disorder that has altered the lives of Lake Highlands’ Martinelli family. Their son, Thomas, is defying the disease’s typical prognosis and thriving. Keep the holiday cheer going Saturday, Dec. 1, at Light Up Lowest Greenville. There will be a souvenir cup for those interested in drink samples and specials. Santa will be available for pictures at GAPCo at 6 p.m. and the tree lighting is at 7.

Hop on a trolley near Mockingbird Station for a Holiday Lights tour through Highland Park. Tickets are $20 and it’s BYO hot chocolate.
