I tagged along with Councilman Adam McGough’s D10 tour as they visited groups from Hidden Ridge Apartments, Lake Highlands Square, Audelia Manor, White Rock Valley, Lake Highlands Estates, Town Creek and Forest Meadows.

At the Lake Highlands Estates gathering held on the Wallace Elementary playground, founder of the National Night Out program Matt Peskin flew into Dallas from Pennsylvania to participate. Peskin, who currently serves as executive director of the National Association of Town Watch, said his original goal is as worthwhile as ever – to establish a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups and volunteers across the nation.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings was also at Wallace to help reps from Dietz and Watson, Albertson’s and Tom Thumb present a check for $2,500 to the Dallas Police Activities League (PAL) for the youth boxing gym at Forest and Audelia. Police officers there keep kids safe and active while teaching them boxing and fitness skills which help them in sports and in life.
