The LHHS Theater Department took first place their zone in the UIL One Act Play Competition. They performed “The Miracle Worker,” the story of Helen Keller and her teacher, Annie Sullivan. Individual recognition went to Chandler Ludwick (playing Captain Keller, Annie’s dad), named Best Actor, and Katie York (Helen Keller) & Emily Hawkins (Annie Sullivan), named to the All Star Cast. Honorable Mentions were earned by Annie Franchek (Aunt Ev), Paige Mabry (Kate) and Jake Gaba (James).
“This is the first time an entire cast has received an award since I’ve been doing UIL,” said Michael Stephens, LHHS theater director. “This is a huge honor.” The next round of competition will be Thursday at Creekview.
