Advocate intern Ethan Healey spent Saturday morning at the Eggstravaganza at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. Here’s his take:
“Not even wind and rain could stop Lake Highlands Methodist Church from having their easter egg hunt and petting zoo this past Saturday. The event featured face painting, cookie decorating, crafts and of course, an easter egg hunt.
Due to the weather the rest of the festivities were taken inside. Once inside people could decorate cookies with colorful sprinkles and have their faces painted, as well as do a number of other crafts.
Since the egg hunt was moved inside it became more of a free-for-all on the gym floor, where eggs were strewn all over for kids to run and grab. There were about 5 different easter egg hunts throughout the morning for different age groups and the church encouraged parents to join in.
In front of the church was a petting zoo featuring animals such as an Alpaca, an emu and an assortment of other farm animals.
In addition to the festivities, there was an opportunity to help feed the homeless through Feed Lake Highlands. The church was selling $1 easter eggs to help raise money to feed the homeless.”
