Lake Highlands High School senior Mitch Henton has been selected one of Dallas Gridiron Club’s 50 High School Scholar Athletes for 2013.
The Wildcat kicker will be honored at the organization’s annual awards banquet March 21.
Honorees were chosen by a selection committee of coaches, teachers, administrators and business leaders from North Texas based on athletic accomplishments, academic performance and leadership in the community. During the banquet, one player will be named the club’s top scholar athlete and will receive a $2000 scholarship.
Other awards presented at the ceremony will include College Scholar Athletes, Coach of the Year, Dallas Legends Award and Distinguished Texan Award.
Next year, Mitch will kick for Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
