sarie morrisonSarie Morrison, a 2010 Lake Highlands High graduate, has been named SEC Specialist of the Week in women’s gymnastics. Sarie competes for the LSU Tigers, and it’s the second time this season she’s earned the honor.

Sarie won titles in two events as LSU faced Arkansas. She scored the first perfect 10 of her career on vault, and she earned a 9.9 on uneven parallel bars. Only two other gymnasts in the country have tens on the vault this season, none in the SEC. You can watch her perfect vault in a Youtube video here.

So far her junior season, Sarie has collected nine individual titles: three on vault and six on bars.

Sarie was also selected this month for the National Academic Momentum Award. The National Consortium for Academics and Sports, working with the Scholar Baller program, chose 28 student athletes for the First Team, and Sarie made the cut.

Tonight, LSU travels to Auburn to face Tigers of another sort.

Congratulations, and Geaux Sarie!
