The Lake Highlands Highlandettes brought home the gold this weekend after competing in Austin at the Texas State Championship Dance Competition.
The officers won Outstanding Choreography and Super Sweepstakes Awards for their novelty, jazz and contemporary dances. They also received the Officer Line Winner’s Circle Award.
The drill team was named Best in Class in the large team division and received the Outstanding Dance Technique Team Award. They also brought home Super Sweepstakes, Outstanding Choreography and High Point Awards for their contemporary, jazz and pop routines.
Team member Anna Starr earned 4th runner up in the solo awards, and the elite dance team was named 2nd runner up.

She has an MBA from SMU and is the proud recipient of the Exchange Club of LH's Unsung Hero Award and Councilman McGough's Blake Anderson Public Service Award. She received LHHS PTA's Extended Service Award, FMJH PTA's Charger Award and a Life Membership from the LHFC PTA. She has moderated candidate debates for Dallas Mayor, Dallas City Council and RISD Trustee races and taught seminars on garnering publicity for nonprofits. She completed training with Dallas Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation and Inside RISD, and she's a sustaining member of LH Women's League.
